Solengo IGT Toscana 2011 – 94 points

This is rich and structured with lots of crushed raspberries and milk chocolate. it’s full-bodied, with chewy, polished tannins and a long finish. Very close to the excellent 2009. Needs a few years to soften: new wood is showing now and needs to come together. Better in 2016.

Suolo IGT Toscana 2011 – 96 points

The ‘Suolo’ is a stunning 100% Sangiovese Grosso, which comes from the finest selection of the estates oldest vineyards. The 2011 is absolutely seductive, with gorgeous aromas of fresh black fruits, ripe cherries, roasted coffee, exotic spices, floral,
smoke, earthy notes, which all come together and explode from the glass. It possesses a beautiful rich, velvety texture, while demonstrating impeccable balance and finesse, dazzling all the way through the finish. Today, this is very accessible and already has so much to offer, but it will also age gracefully for those willing to wait.

Solengo IGT Toscana 2011 – 92 points

The 2011 ‘Solengo’ is gorgeous, bursting with fresh blueberries and black berries followed by spices, crushed violets, fresh minerals and a hint of cocoa. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and polished with an underlying layer of acidity providing a sense of freshness that carries over into the long caressing finish. If approaching now be sure to allow extended air contact, as this is still youthful and will require additional time in the bottle to flesh out. Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah/Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot.”

Non Confunditur IGT Toscana 2012 – 91 points

The 2012 ‘NC’ immediately opens with fresh dark raspberry, plum, dried floral, tobacco, spices and even hints of sweet toasted nuances all leap from the glass. The medium-full body is supported by silky tannins and offers a wonderful sense of freshness from the underlying acidity, which carries all the way through the juicy finish. This is an excellent value and wound be a no brainer for those looking for an everyday wine.”

Solengo IGT Toscana 2011 – 91 points

“An intense, fruit-filled red, showing a smoky cast to the cherry, licorice, herbal and spice flavors, with a fine, lingering aftertaste. Though bracing, this is also solidly tannic and needs time for all the elements to integrate. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2017 through 2027.“

Solengo IGT Toscana 2011 – 90 points

“A dark, inky wine, the 2011 Solengo possesses notable depth and volume. Grilled herbs, smoke, licorice and violets add complexity to a core of blue, blackish fruit in an extroverted, powerful wine endowed with serious intensity and resonance. The 2011 needs a few years to shed some of its baby fat, but it is already quite attractive. The structure of great vintages like 2010 is missing, but in exchange, the 2011 will drink well with minimal cellaring. “

Suolo IGT Toscana 2011 – 88 points

“A voluptuous, racy wine, Argiano’s 2011 Suolo is deeply marked by the qualities of the warm, precocious harvest. Dark red cherries, plums, spices, licorice and menthol all show elements of intense ripeness and sweetness, while the elevated
alcohol is apparent throughout, but especially on the finish. Suolo can be a beautiful wine, but it needs more normal growing conditions to balance the inherent ripeness the estate seeks with this bottling. In warmer years, it can be too much of a good thing, which is exactly the case with the 2011. “

Suolo IGT Toscana 2010 – 88 points

“This expression of Sangiovese is dominated by wood-driven sensations. It opens with aromas of toasted oak, espresso and underbrush that carry through to the palate alongside a dense black-fruit flavor that stays just behind the oak. It finishes on an astringent, tannic note. “

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2009 – 91 points

“Dark cherries, underbrush, sweet tobacco, menthol and licorice meld together in the 2009 Brunello di Montalcino, a wine that impresses for its nuance and overall complexity. The 2009 is beautiful and persistent on the palate, with excellent freshness for the vintage and enough structure to drink well for at least a handful of years. “
